Two Anchor Insitutes, who work closely with Employment and Skills Leeds, have come together to provide new nursing apprenticeship placements in Leeds.

Leeds Beckett University and the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust have joined forces alongside the Open University to offer care support workers as well as all post-16 students with relevant experience and qualifications, the opportunity to study to become a Nursing Associate or Registered Nurse.

The new apprenticeship route is part of the NHS Trust’s Future You programme and will give students a mixture of work placements in specialist settings and study either through Leeds Beckett University or The Open University.

Students will begin the programme as Trainee Nurses working in the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust whilst studying for a Foundation Degree. This is then followed by a year developing skills and practice as a Nursing Associate before progressing onto a two-year Apprentice Nurse programme, ultimately leading to Registered Nurse status and a BSc (Hons) Nursing Degree.
