Leeds City Council has been named one of the best apprenticeship providers in the country, securing number 47 in the list. The rankings grades employers on their overall commitment to employing apprentices, their creation of new apprenticeships, the diversity of their new apprentices, and the progression of their apprentices onto further apprenticeships and employment.

The council, who offer Apprenticeships from Level 2 up to Degree Apprenticeships at Level 7, hired 295 apprentices during 2019-20 and have over 4% of its total staff on Apprenticeship programmes.

More than 100,000 organisations in England are now apprenticeship employers with over 400 employers entering for the inaugural rankings this year. The British Army took the top spot on the list.

The new annual rankings aim to help career changers, young people and their parents, and careers advisors easily identify apprenticeship opportunities at England’s top employers.
